A pair of suspected drug dealers left many Nigerians stunned after asking for a photograph with Delta State Police spokesman Bright Edafe moments after being arrested with cocaine and two pistols.
The bizarre moment, captured in a viral video, unfolded after the suspects were interviewed by the popular Police Public Relations Officer, who revealed they claimed the firearms were used to protect their drug business.
Edafe had earlier announced on Facebook that the duo were arrested during a stop-and-search operation by officers attached to the Delta State Police Command’s Safer Highways patrol team.
According to him, a search uncovered two Beretta pistols hidden on the suspects, along with a substance suspected to be cocaine.
The police spokesman said the arrest shows why stop-and-search operations remain necessary in the fight against crime.
But the real shock came after the interview.
“I have not seen this kind of people before. Caught with cocaine and two pistols, which they claim they use for the drug business. But they got carried away when they saw that I wanted to interview them. They even asked for a picture after the interview,” Edafe wrote.
He said he agreed to the request—but jokingly told them to come back for the photograph after completing their prison sentence.
In the now-viral clip, one of the suspects instantly recognised the police spokesman.
“You say you know me before,” Edafe asked.
“Edafe Bright,” the suspect replied.
“Edafe Bright na him be my name,” the PPRO responded.
“Ahh, who no know you,” the suspect said, praising Edafe’s popularity as the command’s spokesman.
When Edafe asked what they expected would happen next, one suspect simply replied, “Na the same thing.”
Edafe fired back with a grin: “E don reach your turn na.”
