Pic shows: Selfie taken by doctor during surgery.
A doctor that allowed a snap of herself to be taken at work and shared on social media as she worked on a woman in labour is facing the sack.
Although not technically a selfie as the doctor has one hand on the woman's private parts and the other in the area making a V for victory symbol and therefore cannot also be the photographer, it was widely reported in local media as yet another abuse of selfies in the medical profession.
However previous instances have mostly involved nursing staff and people in lesser roles. This is believed to be the first case in relation doctor has faced an enquiry for a similar breach of medical ethics.
Initially it was unknown who the doctor was but now she has been identified as a female doctor working at the Johor Baru hospital, which is in the state of Johor at the southern tip of the Malay peninsular.
The country's health minister Dr Seri Subra promised swift action to punish the doctor for the breach of medical ethics but said that they were waiting for an investigation by the medical ethics panel before deciding whether she should be sacked or fined.
The patient's private parts were clearly visible in the photo, which are short while later went viral.
The photo was taken only recently and investigators also want to know who the unknown photographer was.
