A self-styled spiritual healer has landed in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after allegedly using a fake spiritual session to trap and blackmail an Indian woman with a nude video.
The suspect, identified as Odigie Moses, was arrested by EFCC operatives in Ekpoma, Edo State, over an alleged sextortion scheme involving $1,100.
According to the anti-graft agency, Moses allegedly disguised himself as a spiritualist on Zelle, claiming he possessed special healing powers, and lured the victim — an Indian woman seeking spiritual solutions to what she described as life-threatening challenges — into a “naked spiritual bath” session.
The EFCC alleged that the suspect secretly recorded the session without the woman’s consent and later turned the video into a weapon, threatening to release it publicly unless she paid him.
“The suspect, who misrepresented himself on Zelle, a social media platform, as possessing spiritual healing powers, was contacted by his victim, an Indian woman, who was in need of spiritual intervention on some life-threatening challenges,” the commission said.
The EFCC added that Moses allegedly “deceived her into taking a naked spiritual bath, which he recorded live without her permission,” before demanding money to keep the footage private.
Investigators revealed that the victim allegedly paid the suspect $1,100 in a desperate attempt to stop him from making the video public.
The commission said Moses would be prosecuted after the completion of its investigation.
