The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, said plan is afoot to interrogate Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, and the Chairman of Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, for intimidating opposition and inciting comments relative to the general election.

Bello reportedly endeavoured to disenfranchise supporters of the PDP Kogi Central Senatorial candidate, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for the National Assembly poll.

The governor, according to general report, ordered bulldozers to demarcate and make impassable a road linking an area in Kogi Central Senatorial District, believed to be Akpoti-Uduaghan’s stronghold.

For MC Oluomo, he was seen in multiple videos spewing anti-Igbo’s comments and threatening the ethnic group to steer clear of the election if they were not ready to vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

NHRC Executive Secretary, Tony Ojukwu (SAN), said both Bello and MC Oluomo would have their days before the commission.

Ojukwu expressed this on Sunday, during the presentation of NHRC preliminary report on the 2023 governorship and state Assembly elections.

“We are monitoring the cyber space to track hate speeches and cyber bullying. Part of the sources of our information is the cyber space. We’ll invite MC Oluomo for questioning because his statement is worrisome. I listened to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State yesterday (Saturday) and he said they were investigating. But that will not stop the commission from carrying out its mandate. We will also invite the Kogi State governor for questioning over what happened in Kogi State,” Ojukwu said.
