Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi will be allowed to observe the holy month of Ramadan while in camp for the team’s World Cup preparations.

The Eagles kick start their World Cup preparations next week Monday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital with 30 players vying for shirts.

According to Sportinglife.ng the players have the permission to perform their religious duties during the period notwithstanding the team’s hectic schedule.

“Ramadan is mandatory for Muslims, and this is not the first time practicing Muslims in the team will be fasting. You can recall that in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa Rohr later allowed Ahmed Musa and Abdullahi Shehu to fast despite the fact that they were pivotal to his plans.

“The coach I must say is a liberal man who would defend and respect his players’ faith and at the same time protect his players interest,” source told the paper.

The 30-day fasting is expected to end before Nigeria’s opening match against Croatia on June 16.
