The deceased, who hailed from Ilesa in Osun State, was taken to the cemetery for burial on Friday. But drama ensued as the management of the cemetery refused to allow his corpse to be buried there despite the fact that he died as a Muslim.
The coordinator of the cemetery, Dr. Abubakar Aliagan, told journalists that the refusal of the cemetery management followed an instruction that the corpse should not undergo Islamic rites.
Aliagan said, “If the late Salami will be buried in our Muslim cemetery, we have to do it in line with lslamic rites.”
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Adesola Adewoye, reportedly said that the family of the deceased would meet to decide on the next line of action.
