In general comments, the deaths of six workers with Lagos State Government in last Thursday’s train-bus crash is being laid at the doorstep of the bus driver, Oluwaseun Osinbajo.
Allegation of recklessness and recalcitrance are being levelled at the 44-year-old driver.
However, Mr Femi Aina, distraught father of one of the deceased victims, Julianah Oreoluwa Aina, a National Youths Service Corps member, said the cash squeeze arising from the naira-swap-redesign was equally a factor in the circumstances surrounding the death of the fresh Pure and Applied Chemistry graduate from Osun State University.
Mr Aina stated that the 28-year-old was not fond of commuting by the staff bus, but had no option on that fateful day as a result of the cash crunch.
“I know she boarded the staff bus, but not every day. If not for this cashless nonsense policy, she would not have followed that bus. But she did not have cash, so she had to follow the bus. She had just N200. They just kill people anyhow in this country,” he told Punchng.
