Recall that a lion escaped from the park sometime back and was later shot dead within the park premises.

Workers yesterday hid in their offices and some returned home after the gorilla(file image) escaped from its enclosure, and was strolling around before going into a tent a where a soldier, one of those providing security in the park was taking his nap.

Sources said attempts by the soldier to chase the animal out of the tent was resisted by it as both engaged in a fight during which he sustained injuries.

Report said the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday. And it was brought about by workers who had gone to feed the gorilla and other animals but forget to close the cage thus creating room for the animal to gain freedom.

Sources said word quickly spread that the gorilla, which is one of the oldest animals at the park was on the loose and several workers in the park took flight with some hiding in offices and some dashing into their vehicles and took off.

“We are trying to guide it back to its cage,” the State Commissioner for Tourism, Peter Mwakon was quoted as saying when asked to confirm the incident.
