The National President of the Government Secondary School Ilorin Old Boys Association (GSSI-OBA), Chief Olasheni Ibiwoye, SAN, has called on all Old Boys across the country and beyond to turn out in large numbers for this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 27th, 2025, at the school auditorium.
In a statement issued on Friday, Chief Ibiwoye described the 2025 AGM as “a decisive moment and a rare opportunity to reshape the future of our beloved Alma Mater.” He noted with deep concern the deteriorating condition of the school, stressing that GSS Ilorin—once a pride of Kwara and a model institution in the Northern Region—now faces infrastructural decay, dwindling standards, and increasing threats of land encroachment.
According to the National President, this year’s AGM is not just a routine gathering, but a call to duty, a call to unity, and a call to action. He urged all Old Boys not to abandon the school to its present deplorable state but to rise collectively and restore its dignity, relevance, and functionality for the benefit of current students, future generations, and the entire Kwara community.
Chief Ibiwoye emphasized that the Old Boys, as custodians of the school’s legacy, must seize this moment to deliberate on strategic interventions, strengthen the association, and chart a practical and sustainable way forward. “Our school needs us more than ever before,” he said. “The responsibility to revive its fortune rests on our shoulders, and together, we can rewrite its story.”
The President encouraged members from all sets—home and abroad—to attend the meeting, contribute their ideas, renew their commitment, and take part in shaping the future of GSS Ilorin.
