A new Islamic sect that frowns at western education like the dreaded Boko Haram has emerged at Gwadangwaji, an outskirts of Birnin Kebbi, capital of Kebbi State.
The group known as “Yanlabaiku”(file image), which is led by Ismaila Lokoloko unlike Boko Haram preaches gospel of non-violent and its members are called Yanlokoloko’, the name of their leader.
Sources said that members of the group do not observe the five daily prayers as it is dictated in the holy Quran. Instead, they pray twice daily.
Another of their demeanor, which runs contrary to the principle and teaching of Islam is that married male members allegedly share their wives among themselves.
Investigation by OrijoReporter revealed that Yanlabaiku’s leadership has link with another Islamic sect, Darul-Islam that was disbanded from their bases near Mokwa in Niger State in 2009.
It was said that 45-year-old Ismaila Lokoloko was a member of Darul-Islam. It would be recalled that members of the sect, believed to be more than 3,000 had resided in a village near Mokwa since 1992. Many of them, who hailed from Sokoto and Kano states after being displaced by the Niger State government were transported back to their homes
