A woman born without any reproductive organs is about becoming a mother after signing up to receive a womb transplant.

English Tara Hockaday has the rare condition Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome (MRKH), which means she was born without a womb, a condition the 33-year-old has known since the age of three but officially diagnosed two years ago, Daily Mail reports.

Until now, Ms Hockaday had accepted the fact that the only way she could become a mother was to adopt a child.

But her dreams of having her biological child was boosted this month when UK surgeons were given the go-ahead to begin performing womb transplants.

It would be recalled that four Swedish patients have already given birth following the world’s first successful womb transplant in 2013.
